Non organic male
impotence, or Erectile Dysfunction (ED) as it is now widely known,
affects between 15-30
million Americans according to the National Institutes of Health
(NIH) and can be caused by a number of physical and/or emotional
factors. The first step is to see a doctor and have a physical exam
and evaluation. If the tests determine that there is no physical
cause for impotence, the person is considered to have Non-Organic
Male Impotence. Since physical causes for the problem have been
evaluated by a trained professional and eliminated, it follows that
the problem is therefore in the mind. The Two Session SolutionSM of
Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale and North Miami, Florida, utilizes a variety
of methods including Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time
Line Therapy® and hypnosis to
help you discover the underlying emotional issues that are affecting
you and resolve them.
The Mayo Clinic notes that an occasional episode
of Erectile Dysfunction is normal and goes on to state: “When erectile dysfunction
proves to be a pattern or a persistent problem, however, it can
interfere with a man's self-image as well as his sexual life. It
may also be a sign of a physical or emotional problem that requires
treatment.” The Mayo Clinic indicates common non-physical
causes for impotence as follows:
- Negative feelings—Feelings that you express toward
your sexual partner—or that are expressed by your sexual partner—such
as resentment, hostility or lack of interest also can be a factor
in erectile dysfunction.
- Psychological problems—The most common non-physical
causes are stress, anxiety and fatigue. Impotence is also an occasional
side effect of psychological problems such as depression.
The Mayo Clinic also notes: “The physical and nonphysical
causes of erectile dysfunction commonly interact. For instance,
a minor physical problem that slows sexual response may cause anxiety
about attaining an erection. Then the anxiety can worsen your erectile
dysfunction.” In other words, you may have an episode of erectile
dysfunction which concerns you. Those doubts begin to take over,
and the next time you attempt to have an erection, you are so concerned
about the possibility of failure that you in fact fail to attain
erection. You now create a pattern in your mind which keeps you
from achieving erection.
The NIH noted that “Experts believe
that psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, guilt, depression,
low self-esteem, and
fear of sexual failure cause 10 to 20 percent of ED cases. Men with
a physical cause for ED frequently experience the same sort of psychological
reactions (stress, anxiety, guilt, depression).”
If you experience an occasional episode of Erectile Dysfunction,
it is probably nothing to worry about, but you may want to check
with your doctor just to be sure. If you have regular or constant
episodes, you should of course check with your doctor first to see
if there is a physical problem. Your doctor should be able to recommend
proper treatments for physical issues. However, as noted above,
even if the condition was mainly physical you still may have some
lingering emotional issues, such as doubt, caused by the problem.
Once your doctor has prescribed a course of treatment to deal with
the physical issues, we can work with you to remove any remaining
emotional issues that could affect your performance.
If your doctor determines there is no physical cause, then give
us a call. We will meet with you and help determine what emotional
issues may be causing your erectile dysfunction. In most cases,
the advanced methods we employ, such as Time Line Therapy, Neuro
Linguistic Programming and Hypnosis, can help you return to normal
functioning after just two sessions.
Due to the nature of the this condition, we highly recommend you
consult a medical professional trained in Erectile Dysfunction issues
first to confirm if there is a physical problem which can be addressed
through medication or other methods. We may also require a medical
referral from your doctor prior to beginning sessions with you.
