Fears and phobias affect over
10% of all people. Fears and phobias are an irrational response
to an object or situation
which manifests itself in a desire to avoid the object or situation.
Generally the fear or phobia is out of proportion to the object
or situation. When a fear or phobia prevents you doing something
you want (such as fly) or something you need to do (public speaking)
there is a simple approach to help you release the fear or phobia.
The Two Session SolutionSM of Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale and North
Miami, Florida, has a near 100% success rate in using Cognitive
Behavior Therapy methods including Neuro
Linguistic Programming and Time
Line Therapy® to treat the original source of the fear,
not the symptoms, to help you release the fear or phobia easily.
Typically one session of sixty to ninety minutes is sufficient to
end the fear or phobia once and for all. Extensive phobias might
require two sessions.
Usually fears and phobias are an emotional
response to some “thing”—an
event in your past which then went on to trigger the fear or phobia.
Fears and phobias are a learned response—much the same as
you learned not to touch a hot pot on the stove for fear of being
burned. Learning to use a pot holder is a healthy response to a
fearful situation. When we learn an unhealthy response to a situation
such as anxiety, panic, or avoidance, which is an unhealthy response
that can be overcome or unlearned.
Both the event and the trigger are stored
in your unconscious. You may not even be aware of the specific
event. Someone who, as
a child, was punished by being locked in a dark closet might end
up with claustrophobia, the fear of being closed in. As an adult
we consciously understand that we are in control of our surroundings,
yet many people with claustrophobia cannot even be in a small space
or an elevator—the learned fear and anxiety that was triggered
as a child reasserts itself as an adult. The unconscious has never
learned or been taught it can go back and reexamine or change a
perception that was formed in the past. Many fears and phobias (but
not all) stem from our childhood, although the conscious awareness
of a fear can occur months or years after the original event. When
we were children, our own unconscious was also a child and as such,
its response to situations was less developed and sophisticated
as it is when we are adults.
Perceptions and emotional responses we developed
as children are sometimes still locked into our minds and cause
unwanted behavior
as adults. Until these perceptions and learnings, including a response
to a fear or phobia are reexamined, the fear or phobia will continue.
Using specialized methods such as Neuro
Linguistic Programming and
Time
Line Therapy®, we can help your unconscious identify the source
of the fear unemotionally and reexamine it using all of the knowledge
and wisdom you have gained. It is a wonderful case of “if
I knew then what I know now, I would respond differently.” We
can help you identify and resolve the fear or phobia, freeing you
to live the life and do the things you want to do.
